July 2009

Welcome to Archimedia July 2009

Ensemble would like to wish you and your organisation a successful FY09-10! The extraordinary pressures on business in the current economic climate will force us into questioning the assumptions implicit in the way we generate value. New ways of increasing productivity that create competitive advantage will be top of mind.

Ensemble specialises in reorienting how companies organize themselves to deliver projects faster, increase profits, manage resources effectively and build a culture of continuous improvement with the resources at their disposal.

We have been engaged recently to show two major corporations how to achieve this reorientation within large IT project management environments. We are also involved in the concept redevelopment of a major retail outlet. What is the underlying thread of our client engagements? It is this; the challenging of assumptions and the execution of powerful ideas which create sustainable competitive advantage. We invite you to read our newsletter and share some of your powerful ideas. Dialogue with us through our blog page, cheekily called diablog.

This edition of Archimedia packs a punch. We explore the premises of Constraint Accounting and its utility as a model for profit oriented decision making and measurement in a credit constrained economy. We interview Megan Seneque on her experiences in creating learning organisations, that is, places where people can develop the capacity for innovation and a co-create a culture of continuous improvement. We also review three books by three brilliant authors. We review Hot, Flat and Crowded by Thomas Friedman, On Creativity by David Bohm and The Future of Management by Gary Hamel.

We hope you enjoy this edition of Archimedia. Please feel free to make suggestions via our blog pages of topics you may wish to read about in the future, and participate in the Ensemble community!
